Project

We decided with Team London Bridge BID to redesign two wildflower meadows on the sides of Tennis street as part of the Council estate green space. The meadows are part of a greening up cycle routes project.

Process

The story goes that after development plans took our beloved community garden in Melior street, we were left with tons of good soil and lots of plants to rehome. Whilst we relocated the plants among different sites and put some up for donations, we decided to make good use of the soil by recycling it for this wildflower project.

We moved about 9 tonnes of moderately fertile loam soil. Considering the soil profile, we selected the right species of perennials and annuals that would grow well in given conditions. We sent to our trusted nursery supplier a list for a bespoke seed mix.

The meadow includes plants like Leucanthemum vulgare, Papaver rhoeas, Teucrium scorodonia,

Calendula officinalis, and more.

The elaborate planting plan of the wildflower meadows brought as promised a stunning result of colours and bloom from May to August.
